Facebook to Acquire Team ADOM
Acquisition positions Facebook to become the dominating force in ASCII-based social VR experiences
WITTEN, GERMANY – April 1, 2014 – Team ADOM today announced that it has reached a definitive agreement to be acquired by Facebook, the leading social network, for an undisclosed amount of billions of dollars.Team ADOM is the leader in ASCII based virtual reality gaming in the domains of Ancardia and has built a mighty community of fans over the past 20 years. Given the immense power of ASCII based graphical game environments the members of Team ADOM expect a groundbreaking shift in VR technologies in the near future. The success of the recent "Resurrect ADOM development" crowd funding campaign underlines the strength of this vision.
"ASCII is the platform of tomorrow, and now we're also getting ready to intertwine the power of our engine with todays technologies", said ADOM Creator, Thomas Biskup. "Facebook has shown the vision and commitment to developing tomorrows platforms and we want to build upon this foundation to change the way we play, communicate and work. Given the ability to reduce bandwith and latency with ASCII based MMOs we even expect to introduce a new era for green computing as a collateral side effect."
"We are excited to work with Thomas and Team ADOM to deliver the next step in our secret Trinity campaign", said Marc Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook. "Step one - project Singularity - has laid the groundwork by acquiring Instagram, WhatsApp, Oculus Rift and now Team ADOM. Step two - project AWESOME (for ASCII World Emulation System for Online Multiplayer Environments) - now will convert Instagram into the world leading ASCII image capturing app, transforming real world imagery into ASCII representations, then integrating WhatsApp as the leading ASCII based real world based game speak technology, then creating a ground-breaking ASCII based environment with Oculus Rift and integrating ADOM's enticing game play and community interaction."
"The third and final step of project Trinity yet has to be unveiled but we are sure that by April 1, 2022, all pieces will be in place to finally achieve world domin... enlightenment!", added Marc Schroepfer, CTO of Facebook.
"AnD tHiS iS jUsT tHe BeGiNnInG", concluded Marc Zuckerberg. Thomas Biskup just smiled in a confident manner following this statement.
Team ADOM will maintain its headquartes around the world and will continue to develop ADOM (Ancient Domains Of Mystery), one of the most beloved brands of the roguelike gaming world.
